Unlock all cars without multiplayer

After you finish 1st to 8th Grand Prix, the game unlocks the difficulty for every race, finish them all at Z (Platinum Cup) and unlock all the hidden cars!

Switching to Reverse w/o Choosing Extra

In the Ridge Racer stage, it can be flipped to reverse. First, drive a little bit far, about past the lap point, and go reverse. Drive to where you were just from and ram into the gray wall at fast speed. You should be flipped around, as well as the stage.
This also works for all stages in single player mode.

Examine your car at selection screen

When viewing the car selection screen, it is possible to zoom in/out, rotate, and switch to and from a over head view and back. In order to do any of this, you use the X, Y, and X+Y button combonations along with R and L to change it. The effects are as follows: hold Y and use either L or R to rotate the car and hold it longer to make it go faster; hold X and use either L or R to move the view to and from an over head view and back; hold both X+Y and use either L or R to zoom in and out. Press SELECT to stop the rotation.
